Abstract
The configuration of the professional teaching identity of the early childhood educator is not linear, it is an identity under construction, zigzagging, with ups and downs, with a deep passion for the formative path of this profession, but also with intense questioning about the desire and interest in being a professional in early childhood pedagogy. The students' narratives show the tensions, uncertainties and concerns in the labor and professional development of early childhood pedagogues, which are caused by the Colombian teacher education policies for preschool education professionals. A crisis arises in the configuration of the professional teaching identity of the students in formation of the Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Pedagogy at the Universidad de los Llanos, which demands a deep curricular reflection in the academic instances of the program with the students that advance this professional formation.
